My Passion

Magic the Gathering is a fantastic game and one of my all time favourites. This page is dedicated to my passion for this great game and showcasing some of my achievements within it.
TL:DR I have:

  • Placed 5th at 2022 Lincon Modern Nationals

  • Placed 5th at the 2022 Lincon Team Store Championship

  • Judged several successful pre-release events

  • Taught many people to get into magic the gathering

I started my journey in Magic The Gathering with Commander. This was during my first year of highschool in 2017. Quite soon I realized the entire friend group sucked and we needed someone who knew the rules and that led me to certify as a judge in 2019. As a judge I have run several pre-release events at Dragons Lair and Alphaspel, something I still do. I also ran the Magic Monday beginner tournament every week for a couple of years.
Up until the release of Modern Horizons 2 in 2021 I had mostly played casually and socially but at that time I started playing more competitive Modern. This culminated in me getting selected for the team that represented Alphaspel at the 2022 Lincon Modern Nationals and Store Championship where I placed 5th in the individual section, my only loss in the top 8 being to the winner of the entire tournament, and we placed 5th
in the team section losing out on the top cut by a single point. I'm still very proud of such a performance at my first big tournament and hope to one day get back to competitive magic, because unfortunately for my burgeoning tournament career I got accepted to TGA that same year and had to put the cards on ice, something I have never once regretted.

To me magic is a profoundly mental challenge that lets me pursue the greatest displays of skill and expression in an incredibly engaging and fun way. In many ways it is the perfect game and continues to excite me with each expansion. It is also an incredible tool for finding like minded and lifelong friends, something that I find happening continuously.

If you don't have a group that plays magic at your office you will after I start!
